GAC Group Unveils 'One GAC 2.0' Strategy to Deepen Global Integration

Guangzhou Automobile Group, or GAC Group, has launched an upgraded internationalization strategy named "One GAC 2.0," signaling a deeper phase of its global expansion. The announcement was made by Chairman and General Manager Feng Xingya at the 2025 World New Energy Vehicle Congress.

The move comes as the state-owned automaker reported a 43% year-on-year increase in its international terminal sales for the first eight months of 2025. According to Feng, this growth marks the beginning of a new stage focused on systemic, localized operations rather than purely market entry.

GAC Group's operations currently span more than 80 countries and regions, supported by five overseas production bases and a global sales and service network.

Under the "One GAC 2.0" framework, the company outlined a five-year plan with targeted investments in key markets. In Thailand, GAC will focus on developing a charging infrastructure network to accelerate the adoption of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the country and the broader Southeast Asian region.

In Brazil, the automaker plans to collaborate with the country’s National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO). The partnership will involve contributing to the development of local automotive technical standards, a move aimed at deepening integration with the local industrial ecosystem.

A core pillar of the new strategy is talent localization. Feng emphasized plans to strengthen partnerships with universities in countries such as Brazil and Thailand. These collaborations will establish joint training programs in areas including NEV research and development, manufacturing, and after-sales service to build a sustainable local talent pool.

The strategy reflects a broader trend among Chinese automakers to move beyond initial market penetration and establish long-term, sustainable operations by embedding themselves in local markets as the global auto industry shifts toward electrification.
