Huawei's Upcoming Mate 80 Series Reportedly Gains Key Certification in China

A recent report has revealed that three new smartphone models from Huawei Technologies have obtained regulatory approval in China, a development widely seen as a precursor to the launch of its next-generation flagship Mate 80 series. The certification is a mandatory step for electronic products before they can be sold in the mainland market.

According to an article published on October 2, 2025, by a technology news outlet, the devices were listed in China's Compulsory Certification (3C) database. This process primarily verifies the safety specifications of products and their power adapters, often providing early clues about the features of unannounced devices.

The report, citing information from a well-known industry leaker, identified the models by their codenames and charging capabilities. The standard Mate 80, codenamed "Voyager," is said to support 66W fast charging. Two higher-end variants, reportedly the Mate 80 Pro and Mate 80 Pro+, are grouped under the codename "Sagittarius" and are both certified with 100W charging technology.

The certification of a new flagship line is a significant milestone for Huawei, whose consumer electronics division has sought to rebuild its market share following years of U.S. sanctions. The Mate series, traditionally one of the company's two premium smartphone lines, is known for showcasing its latest advancements in camera technology and mobile processing power.

Despite the certifications, the source report suggests that an immediate launch may not be imminent. The absence of the ultra-premium "RS Ultimate Design" model from the 3C database indicates that the top-tier device in the series may still be in development, potentially delaying the official unveiling of the entire lineup.
