Six vehicles from BYD secured positions in the top 10 best-selling new energy vehicles globally in September, according to industry data cited by Chinese media outlet Techweb.

Tesla's Model Y led the global rankings with sales of 140,904 units in September, making it the month's best-selling electric vehicle. The Model 3 followed in second place with 67,374 units sold, the data showed.

Chinese automakers dominated the remainder of the top 10 list. The Wuling Hongguang MINI EV ranked third with 54,498 units, while Geely's Xingyuan secured fourth place with sales of 50,203 vehicles.

BYD's Song model placed fifth with 46,148 units sold. Notably, the remaining five positions in the top 10 were also occupied by BYD models, giving the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer six of the top 10 slots overall.

The other five BYD models in the rankings were the Qin Plus in sixth place with 39,744 units, the Seagull in seventh with 34,586 units, the Seal 06 in eighth with 32,872 units, the Dolphin 06 in ninth with 30,901 units, and the Yuan Up in tenth position with 29,693 units.

Overall, eight of the top 10 positions in September's global new energy vehicle sales rankings were held by Chinese manufacturers, with only Tesla's two models breaking their dominance. The data underscores the growing global presence of Chinese automakers in the new energy vehicle market.
