BYD Qin MAX Filing Reveals New Electric Sedan Positioned Above Qin L

BYD has filed a new electric vehicle model with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introducing the Qin MAX sedan that will slot above the existing Qin L in the company's product lineup.

The latest regulatory documents show the Qin MAX measures 4,866mm in length and features pure electric propulsion, marking BYD's continued expansion of its sedan portfolio as the automaker intensifies competition in China's crowded electric vehicle market.

The filing provides technical specifications for the new model ahead of its anticipated commercial launch, offering insight into BYD's strategy to fill gaps in its pricing and positioning structure.

Design and Dimensions

The Qin MAX adopts BYD's Dragon Face design philosophy, featuring a low, forward-leaning front profile that creates a dynamic visual stance. The sedan incorporates semi-hidden door handles, following contemporary automotive design trends.

The vehicle's dimensions measure 4,866mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and 1,495mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820mm. These measurements position it above the Qin L, suggesting a roomier interior and potentially higher market positioning.

Styling Elements

At the rear, the Qin MAX features a full-width light bar with an integrated ribbon-effect light source. The BYD logo is embedded in the center of the light bar and is expected to illuminate, enhancing brand recognition.

Powertrain Specifications

The Qin MAX will be equipped with a single electric motor designated model TZ180XSAC, delivering maximum power output of 120kW. The vehicle will utilize BYD's lithium iron phosphate Blade Battery technology, the company's proprietary battery system designed for enhanced safety and longevity.

The pure electric powertrain aligns with BYD's strategic focus on battery electric vehicles as China's largest EV manufacturer continues to dominate domestic market share.
