BYD's Denza D9 Surpasses 300,000 Deliveries as World's Best-Selling New Energy MPV
BYD's premium brand Denza announced that its D9 model has surpassed 300,000 deliveries, claiming the position as the world's best-selling new energy MPV.
The 300,000th Denza D9 was delivered on Saturday to Pan Xiaoting, China's first world champion in billiards, according to the company's official social media account.
The D9 represents one of seven new energy vehicle models currently offered by Denza, alongside the N9, N8L, Z9, Z9GT, N7 and Denza Z.
Launched in 2022 as a high-end MPV, the D9 began pre-sales in May of that year before officially hitting the market in August. The model recorded over 15,000 firm orders within 24 hours of launch, with the first production vehicle rolling off the line in October 2022.
By May 2023, one year after opening pre-orders, the D9 reached 50,000 deliveries, setting a record as the fastest new energy luxury brand to achieve that milestone. The 100,000th production unit came off the assembly line in September of the same year.
Denza was jointly established by BYD and Mercedes-Benz in 2010. The brand became a wholly-owned luxury subsidiary of BYD in 2024, marking its transition into what the company describes as a new chapter focused on technology-driven luxury positioning.
The milestone underscores BYD's expanding footprint in the premium electric vehicle segment, where traditional automakers face growing competition from Chinese manufacturers leveraging scale and vertical integration advantages.
