DJI to Launch Osmo Action 6 on November 13 with Professional-Grade Imaging Capabilities
Chinese drone and camera manufacturer DJI Innovation Technology Co., Ltd. (大疆创新科技有限公司) is preparing to unveil its next-generation action camera with significantly enhanced specifications targeting professional content creators, according to a media report.
According to a report published by Chinese technology outlet Guanghe Pixel on November 4, 2025, the Osmo Action 6 will officially launch on November 13, representing what the publication describes as a fundamental shift in product positioning toward the professional creator market.
The report indicates the new camera will feature a 1/1.1-inch stacked CMOS sensor jointly developed by DJI and Sony, marking a substantial upgrade from typical action camera sensors. This larger sensor size approaches that of high-end smartphone cameras and is expected to deliver improved low-light performance and greater dynamic range in challenging lighting conditions.
In what would be an industry first, the Action 6 will reportedly incorporate a variable aperture lens capable of adjusting between f/2.0 and f/4.0, allowing users to optimize image quality across different lighting environments. The f/2.0 setting would maximize light intake in dark conditions, while f/4.0 would prevent overexposure in bright sunlight and enable star-burst effects.
The device is expected to support 8K recording at 30fps and introduce Apple ProRes encoding to DJI's action camera lineup for the first time, addressing demands from commercial video producers requiring extensive post-production flexibility. Additional recording modes will reportedly include 5.3K at 60fps, 4K at 120fps, and 1080p at 240fps.
Other specifications mentioned in the report include 20-meter waterproofing without additional housing, a 1,950mAh battery providing approximately four hours of 4K recording time, and 64GB of internal storage as backup. The camera will also integrate with Apple Watch and Garmin devices for remote control and real-time overlay of biometric and GPS data.
The Action 6 will be priced starting at approximately $329, according to the report, positioning it competitively against established action camera brands while offering substantially enhanced capabilities.
If confirmed, the launch would represent DJI's most aggressive move yet to expand its action camera presence beyond recreational users into professional content creation workflows. The November 13 announcement date will clarify whether these reported specifications materialize in the final product.
