Huawei Reportedly Developing Mid-Range Foldable Based on Pura X Display Specifications

A recent report has revealed that Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is developing a new mid-range foldable smartphone featuring display specifications similar to its Pura X model, as the company expands its folding phone portfolio.

According to a report published by tech publication DigitalChatStation on September 8, 2025, the Chinese telecommunications giant is preparing to launch the device in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The upcoming mid-range foldable is expected to incorporate the same screen specifications as the Pura X, which features a 6.3-inch main display with a 16:10 aspect ratio designed to enhance viewing experiences. However, the leak suggests this new device will serve as a downgraded version of the Pura X handset, likely adopting inferior specifications compared to existing vertical folding phones while maintaining the core display technology.

The development comes as Huawei projects strong sales performance for its premium tri-fold smartphones. The company recently launched the Mate XT tri-fold device, and industry sources suggest that Huawei's triple-fold phones, including both new and previous-generation models, could potentially achieve approximately 1 million units in sales by the end of 2025.

Details regarding the mid-range foldable's camera system, cover screen, battery capacity, and other key features remain undisclosed. Industry observers speculate the device may potentially replace the Nova Flip handset in Huawei's product lineup.

The move represents Huawei's strategy to make foldable technology more accessible to mainstream consumers through mid-range pricing, potentially expanding the adoption of folding smartphones beyond the premium segment as the company continues to innovate in the competitive foldable market.
