Huawei Secures Top Spot in Wrist-Worn Devices for Second Quarter, Outpacing Xiaomi and Apple
Huawei Technologies led the global market for wrist-worn devices for the second consecutive quarter, shipping 9.9 million units in the second quarter of 2025, according to a report from International Data Corporation (IDC). The shipments gave Huawei a 20.2% share of the global market.
The overall market for wrist-worn devices, which includes smartwatches and bands, grew 12.3% year-on-year to 49.22 million units. The smartwatch segment expanded 10.1% to 38.27 million units, while the band segment grew 20.6% to 10.95 million units.
Xiaomi ranked a close second with 9.5 million units shipped, representing 19.3% of the market. The company posted a significant 61.0% year-on-year increase in shipments. Apple Inc. placed third, with shipments growing 28.8% to 7.4 million units for a 15.0% market share.
Samsung and BBK Electronics Corp., Ltd.completed the top five, shipping 3.2 million and 3.0 million units, respectively.
Huawei’s shipments in the quarter marked an 11.7% increase from the 8.9 million units sold in the same period in 2024, though its global market share saw a marginal decline from 20.3%. The company maintained its dominant position in its home market of China, shipping 7 million units to claim a 33.4% share, a 16.6% increase from the previous year.
The company's sustained performance is linked to its product strategy, which emphasizes accurate health monitoring features and a focus on design to appeal to different consumer segments.
