Insta360 Unveils X4 Air, World's Lightest 8K 360-Degree Camera
Arashi Vision, operating under the Insta360 brand, launched its latest 360-degree camera, the X4 Air, on October 28. Weighing just 165 grams, the device is positioned as the lightest 8K panoramic camera currently available, targeting vlog creators, families, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking a versatile recording solution.
The X4 Air matches the weight of modern slim smartphones while delivering 8K video at 30 frames per second with full 360-degree coverage. The camera is 17.5% lighter than the company's flagship X5 model, which weighs 200 grams. When paired with Insta360's signature 114-centimeter invisible selfie stick, the total weight reaches approximately 293 grams.
The device features replaceable lenses, FlowState stabilization technology, and 360-degree horizon correction to maintain steady footage during movement. A built-in microphone windshield reduces wind noise during outdoor recording. Users can switch between panoramic mode and single-lens mode, transforming the camera into a wide-angle action camera capable of shooting 4K video at 60fps. In ultra-wide mode, the device captures 4K footage at 30fps with a 170-degree field of view.
New portrait and tone enhancement modes have been added to improve skin tones and facial detail in selfie mode, while automatically adjusting lighting transitions for landscape photography without extensive post-processing.
The X4 Air integrates with Insta360's mobile application, which uses artificial intelligence to analyze footage and automatically generate edited videos using templates and music. The camera supports Insta360's cloud service offering 2TB of storage for automatic backup and sharing via social platforms including WeChat.
Insta360 reported revenue exceeding RMB 6.6 billion yuan (US$910 million) for the first three quarters of 2025, representing year-over-year growth of more than 67%. The company has doubled its research and development investment in custom chip development to drive product innovation.
During China's Singles' Day shopping festival in 2025, Insta360 topped sales charts in action cameras and panoramic cameras. Since its establishment in 2015, the company has become a market leader in both panoramic and action camera segments globally, building its position through proprietary panoramic imaging technology.
The X4 Air is available in graphite black and dynamic white color options.
