BYD's Denza N8L Enters Crowded Premium Family SUV Market Starting at RMB 299,800

Denza Auto, the premium brand under BYD, officially launched its N8L large SUV model on October 28, just one month after pre-sales began. The vehicle is offered in two variants priced at RMB 299,800 (US$41,600) and RMB 329,800, representing a RMB 20,000 reduction from pre-sale prices.

The company also announced a purchase tax subsidy guarantee for buyers who sign contracts before November 30, 2025. Customers will receive up to RMB 15,000 compensation if delivery delays beyond year-end prevent them from accessing current tax incentives.

Denza General Manager Li Hui stated that pre-sale deposits exceeded expectations, citing strong market response in cities including Xi'an, Changsha, and Shenzhen during the National Day holiday period.

The N8L measures 5,200mm in length with a 3,075mm wheelbase, providing 6.11 square meters of interior space. The six-seat configuration offers per-passenger space exceeding one square meter. All three rows feature power-adjustable seats with multiple configurations, alongside 49 storage compartments and a 51-liter hidden cargo area.

Performance specifications include BYD's Yi Sifang technology integrating a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with three drive motors, generating 762 horsepower and achieving zero-to-100 kilometers per hour acceleration in 3.9 seconds. The vehicle incorporates Yunnan-A intelligent air suspension and rear-wheel independent steering with a maximum 10-degree angle, achieving a minimum turning radius of 4.58 meters.

The N8L features BYD's blade battery technology with 230-kilometer pure electric range and 1,300-kilometer combined range. Safety features include a cage-body structure using 2,000MPa hot-formed steel and a six-piston brake system achieving 35.4-meter braking distance from 100 kilometers per hour.

The Tianshen Eye B advanced driver-assistance system includes one lidar unit and 30 sensors supporting urban and highway navigation functions. The vehicle also integrates partnerships with Midea Group's COLMO brand and other companies for smart home connectivity.

Through September 2025, Denza accumulated 108,800 units in sales, trailing its annual target of 300,000 vehicles. The N8L will compete against BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and domestic rivals including Li Auto's L series, Mengshi M817, Lynk & Co 900, and Huawei's Aito M9 in the premium family SUV segment.
