JD.com Inc.announced the official pricing for the Aion UT super electric vehicle on November 9, marking its debut in the automotive market with a battery rental option starting at RMB 49,900 yuan ($6,900) and as low as RMB 45,400 yuan after subsidies for PLUS members.

The e-commerce giant's official automotive account revealed that the full-purchase price stands at RMB 89,900 yuan, dropping to RMB 85,900 yuan with subsidies—below market expectations. Previous consumer research by JD.com showed 83% of users expected pricing under RMB 100,000 yuan.

As the exclusive sales platform, JD.com has partnered with GAC Motor and CATL to offer rebates through December 31 for the first 15,000 customers who complete subsidy applications. Battery rental customers receive RMB 2,000 per vehicle, while full-purchase buyers get RMB 4,000.

The first 1,000 JD.com PLUS members ordering from 8 p.m. on November 9 receive an additional RMB 2,500 JD.com gift card when choosing the battery rental option, bringing the effective price to RMB 45,400 yuan for rental and approximately RMB 85,900 yuan for outright purchase.

Additional incentives include reduced monthly battery rental fees from RMB 499 to RMB 399 through December 8, with PLUS members eligible for up to RMB 2,000 in battery swap fee exemptions. Full-purchase customers joining the Chocolate battery swap network receive a waiver on the RMB 699 annual battery management fee plus complimentary battery inspection services.

The three companies jointly introduced a 180-day price protection guarantee. Customers completing purchases before midnight December 31 will receive ten times the price difference if the vehicle price drops within 180 days of delivery. Those ordering by November 30 facing delayed delivery into 2025 due to production or logistics issues will receive full purchase tax reimbursement. Battery rental customers ordering by December 8 can apply 100% of paid rental fees toward battery purchase if they decide to buy within three years.

The Aion UT super, based on GAC Aion's UT model, features a compact two-door hatchback design positioned as a pure electric small car. The vehicle comes in Monet Purple and Champs Elysees Beige, with optional vinyl wrap configurations. It measures 4,270mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,575mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Standard 16-inch wheels can be upgraded to 17-inch options.

The vehicle's electric motor delivers 100 kilowatts maximum power and 145 newton-meters torque, paired with CATL lithium iron phosphate batteries. CLTC range reaches 500 kilometers with 99-second battery swap capability, exceeding the standard 2025 Aion UT's 330-kilometer and 420-kilometer range options.

JD.com first announced plans for the "national car" collaboration on October 14, officially naming it Aion UT super on October 23. The first unit rolled off GAC Aion's Changsha smart manufacturing facility on November 5.

JD.com emphasized its role centers on consumer insights and exclusive sales rather than manufacturing. Industry observers note the initiative represents a redefinition of affordable electric vehicle standards through ecosystem collaboration among the three partners.
