XPeng Deepens Southeast Asia Push via Charging Pact With Singapore's Charge Plus
XPeng Inc. is significantly expanding its charging infrastructure in Southeast Asia through a strategic partnership with a major regional operator, a move designed to support its international sales ambitions and bolster the appeal of its electric vehicles in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The Chinese automaker announced that its charging services will now integrate with the network of Charge Plus, Singapore's largest charging operator. The agreement grants XPeng customers access to more than 3,800 charging piles across the three Southeast Asian nations, marking a critical step in building a convenient and localized support system for its growing overseas user base.
This collaboration makes XPeng Inc. the first Chinese EV startup to connect to a unified charging network of this scale spanning Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. According to the company, the network provides full charging coverage along the key north-south highway corridors connecting the three countries, directly addressing range anxiety for long-distance travel.
The first XPeng-branded charging stations under the partnership are now operational. The company aims to further enhance the user experience by introducing exclusive charging discounts and seamless payment systems for its vehicle owners by the end of 2025, signaling a long-term commitment to reducing barriers for EV adoption in the region.
Establishing a Strategic Network
The partnership provides XPeng with a substantial infrastructure footprint in a competitive market. The Charge Plus network includes Singapore's largest public charging system, with a market share exceeding 30%, and extends across a 5,000-kilometer stretch of highways. This integration is crucial for supporting XPeng’s high-performance 800V models, including the G6, G9, and X9, which are designed for ultra-fast charging capabilities.
Enhancing the Customer Experience
To further improve convenience for its drivers, XPeng has already launched its first branded charging stations within the partner network, some of which are ultra-fast chargers with a maximum power output of 350 kW. The company outlined aclear roadmap for future enhancements scheduled for the coming year.
By the end of 2025, XPeng owners are expected to receive exclusive discounts when using the branded charging stations. During the same period, the company plans to integrate real-time station status and one-touch navigation into its vehicles' infotainment systems. A seamless, app-based "plug-and-charge" payment experience is also slated for launch by the end of 2025, allowing for a fully automated process from charging to payment.
Dual-Market Infrastructure Growth
While expanding its international presence, XPeng continues to aggressively build out its charging network in its domestic market. This dual-market strategy underscores the company's heavy investment in infrastructure as a key competitive advantage. As of late September, XPeng had established approximately 2,600 self-operated charging stations across China, with over 80% of them equipped with supercharging technology. The company has set a target to expand its self-operated network in China to over 3,000 stations by the end of 2025.
