XPeng Expands Global Footprint With Dual-Power P7+ Launch Across 36 Markets

XPeng officially unveiled its 2026 XPeng P7+ sedan on Monday, announcing a simultaneous rollout across 36 countries. The launch introduces a "super extended-range" powertrain alongside an upgraded pure electric version, marking a strategic shift to capture a broader share of the global market by offering flexible propulsion options.

The refreshed lineup aims to address varying consumer needs regarding range and charging infrastructure. The pure electric variant is built on an 800V high-voltage platform equipped with a 5C AI-enabled battery, capable of delivering a maximum range of 725 kilometers under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC).

For the first time on this model, XPeng introduced an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version. This configuration pairs a 1.5-liter turbo engine—serving as a generator—with a 180kW drive motor and a 49.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The company claims the vehicle achieves a CLTC pure electric range of 430 kilometers, which it markets as the longest for any extended-range coupe globally. The combined range for this variant extends to 1,550 kilometers.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman of XPeng, stated that the 2026 P7+ represents the start of the company’s product cycle for the coming year. He emphasized that the vehicle was developed with global unified production and safety standards to support its international release. The executive noted that the dual-power strategy is designed to resolve range anxiety while maintaining the vehicle's positioning as a primary choice for young families.

According to filings with Chinese regulators, the 2026 P7+ features slightly larger dimensions than its predecessor, with a length of 5,071mm—an increase of 15mm—and a wheelbase of 3,000mm. The company reported 104 specific upgrades to the user experience and a 36% improvement in primary powertrain components, focusing on enhanced interior refinement and space utilization.
