XPeng to Unveil New P7 Sedan at Munich Motor Show in European Push
XPeng Inc. will showcase its redesigned P7 electric sedan at the Munich Motor Show on September 8, marking the vehicle's European debut as the Chinese automaker accelerates its international expansion targeting 50% overseas sales within a decade.
The move represents XPeng's strategic shift toward premium positioning in European markets, departing from its domestic mass-market image. The company aims to establish itself as a high-tech player in Europe's competitive electric vehicle landscape.
European expansion comes amid supportive regulatory frameworks and growing demand for electric vehicles across key markets including Norway, Poland, and Italy, where favorable tax policies and high EV penetration rates create opportunities for Chinese manufacturers.
XPeng's pricing strategy positions its vehicles competitively against established players like Tesla, with models such as the G6 SUV priced at approximately £40,000-50,000 in European markets, undercutting comparable Tesla Model Y variants while offering competitive charging speeds and range.
New P7 Targets Premium European Segment
The revamped P7, launched domestically on August 27, features comprehensive upgrades including an 800V architecture and dual-chamber air suspension across all variants. The sedan offers three configurations: an 820km ultra-long range version, a 750km high-performance variant, and a 702km long-range model, priced between RMB 219,800-301,800 ($30,400-41,700).
Technical specifications include 10-minute fast charging capability adding 525km range, energy consumption of 12kWh per 100km, and acceleration to 100km/h in approximately 3 seconds with a top speed of 230km/h. The vehicle incorporates an 87-inch AR-HUD display system and what XPeng calls an "intelligent bionic cockpit."
Design elements include a new XMART FACE front end, integrated light-up logo, hidden millimeter-wave radar, and floating roof architecture aimed at differentiating the model in European premium segments.

Strategic Positioning Shift for Global Markets
XPeng's European strategy focuses on premium market positioning, contrasting with its domestic approach that emphasized affordability compared to rivals Li Auto and NIO Inc. CEO He Xiaopeng indicated the company seeks to establish high-tech credentials and target mid-to-high-end segments internationally.
The G6 SUV has demonstrated early European market acceptance, becoming the only Chinese vehicle in Nordic D-segment SUV top-10 rankings. This performance validates XPeng's competitive positioning against established European and American brands through technology innovation and competitive pricing.
The company's selected export portfolio centers on G9, G6, and P7 models rather than entry-level offerings like the domestic G3, reflecting deliberate premium market targeting in overseas expansion.
