Antigravity Accelerates A1 Launch to Counter DJI's Avata 360 in 360-Degree Drone Battle

Antigravity has moved up the launch date for its A1 drone to December 4, 2025, nearly two months ahead of schedule, in what market observers view as a strategic move to gain ground before DJI Technology Co. releases its competing Avata 360 model.

The A1, marketed as the world's first consumer drone with integrated 8K 360-degree panoramic capture, will hit shelves just weeks before DJI's product is expected to launch. Antigravity, a brand under Shenzhen Arashi Vision Co., known as Insta360, announced the accelerated timeline through social media, revealing a locked release date while keeping pricing information hidden.

The timing reflects intensifying competition in the emerging 360-degree drone category. After Antigravity first unveiled the A1 in August 2025, DJI quickly responded by leaking promotional materials for the Avata 360 on November 10. DJI's model secured Federal Communications Commission certification on November 19, clearing regulatory hurdles for a U.S. market entry by December 23.

Pricing could prove decisive. Unconfirmed leaks suggest DJI's Avata 360 "Fly More Combo" may retail around 7,000 yuan (US$970), while Antigravity's complete package is expected to range between 9,000 and 12,000 yuan(US$1,250-$1,665).

The two drones employ different technical approaches. DJI's Avata 360 uses a rotating camera system that switches between 360-degree panoramic and traditional forward-facing modes. Antigravity's A1 features fixed dual lenses positioned top and bottom, maintaining constant panoramic capture with in-device stitching algorithms to create an "invisible drone" effect for immersive viewing.

The A1 weighs under 249 grams, meeting FAA and international standards for registration-free operation. It introduces what Antigravity calls "FreeMotion" control logic, allowing users to operate the drone through head-tracking goggles and handheld controllers with decoupled visual and flight directions. The system also includes what the company describes as an industry-first payload detection mechanism that automatically initiates landing if unauthorized attachments are detected.

Both Chinese manufacturers face regulatory scrutiny in international markets. Insta360 products have previously undergone review over data transfer concerns, while DJI confronts potential FCC import restrictions. Despite these headwinds, the companies are pursuing what represents one of the consumer drone industry's most innovative competitions in recent years.

The December 4 launch will test whether Antigravity can establish early market presence in the 360-degree category before DJI leverages its established supply chain and ecosystem advantages. For content creators, the choice between Antigravity's specialized panoramic system and DJI's anticipated integrated solution will become clearer as both products reach market within weeks of each other.
