BYD Nears 400,000 Monthly Sales as New Fang Cheng Bao Brand Gains Traction

BYD announced its September sales figures, with total vehicle deliveries reaching 396,270 units. The company's passenger vehicle segment sold 393,060 units, including 70,851 vehicles exported to overseas markets.

For the first nine months of 2025, the Shenzhen-based automaker has maintained strong growth, with cumulative sales hitting 3.26 million units, an 18.64% increase compared to the same period last year. Based on this trajectory, BYD’s annual passenger vehicle sales are projected to exceed 4.3 million units, surpassing its 2024 performance.

The company's established Dynasty and Ocean series remained the primary sales drivers, collectively accounting for 355,774 vehicles in September. However, the standout performer was its new personalized sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, which sold 24,121 units, demonstrating rapid market acceptance. The premium Denza brand contributed 12,407 units, while the ultra-luxury Yangwang brand sold 758 vehicles.

A breakdown of BYD's core series shows the Ocean line leading with 189,400 units sold, while the Dynasty line followed with 162,700 units. The Qin sedan family continued to be a pillar for the Dynasty series, with monthly sales of 67,600 units.

BYD is expected to continue its aggressive sales strategy into the fourth quarter. It recently launched the second-generation Qin PLUS sedan, with a competitive starting price of 69,800 yuan (approximately US$9,600), positioning it against rivals such as models from Geely Automobile.

This final push is likely intensified by the planned termination of China’s full new-energy vehicle (NEV) purchase tax exemption at the end of 2025. Analysts anticipate a surge in sales as consumers act before the policy change, with BYD expected to average at least 400,000 units per month for the remainder of the year to solidify its leadership in the market.
