DJI Unveils Neo 2 Compact Drone with Full Obstacle Avoidance Starting at RMB 1,499

DJI launched the second generation of its ultra-portable Neo drone on October 30, 2025, introducing significant upgrades while maintaining an accessible price point of RMB 1,499 (US$206) for the base model.

The DJI Neo 2 represents a substantial improvement over its predecessor, featuring a dual-axis gimbal stabilization system and becoming the company's smallest drone equipped with full omnidirectional obstacle avoidance. Weighing just 151 grams, the device incorporates a forward-facing LiDAR sensor, omnidirectional monocular vision system, and downward infrared sensors to detect obstacles in real-time.

The imaging system includes a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with 12 megapixels and an f/2.2 aperture, capable of recording 4K video at 60 frames per second, 4K slow-motion at 100fps, and 2.7K vertical video for social media content. The upgraded dual-axis gimbal provides enhanced image stabilization compared to the first-generation model.

Neo 2 maintains user-friendly features including hand gesture control, palm takeoff and landing capabilities, and intelligent tracking functions. The drone can automatically return and land on the user's palm, a new feature not available in the original version. Flight time has been extended to 19 minutes, one minute longer than its predecessor.

DJI offers four configurations: the standalone unit at RMB 1,499, a flight bundle with three batteries at RMB 1,999, a combo package including the RC-N3 remote controller at RMB 2,499, and a premium set featuring Goggles N3 and motion controller at RMB 3,699.

The product targets entry-level users and content creators focused on travel and lifestyle documentation. Its full propeller guard design and comprehensive obstacle avoidance system aim to reduce the risk of crashes, addressing common concerns among beginner drone operators. The device also maintains compatibility with DJI's FPV goggles, providing an upgrade path for users developing their piloting skills.
