DJI's New Avata 360 Drone Leaked, Featuring 8K Panoramic and FPV Modes

Leaked promotional images have revealed a new hybrid drone from DJI Technology, the Avata 360, which combines 8K panoramic video capabilities with traditional first-person view (FPV) flight. The images, first published in a report by Dronexl, suggest the new model is aimed at delivering versatility in the consumer drone market.

The leak clarifies that previous speculation surrounding an "Avata 3" model was, in fact, referencing this new Avata 360. The drone’s primary feature is its dual functionality, allowing it to capture 360-degree video at 8K resolution while also being operable as a conventional FPV drone. A user can reportedly switch between modes with a single button press, which automatically reorients the camera to a forward-facing position. This design suggests an effort to maintain a user-friendly control experience consistent with other DJI products.

According to the report's analysis of the images, the Avata 360 will be compatible with existing accessories, including the Motion 3 controller and Goggles N3. The drone is also shown to have enhanced safety and sensing features, equipped with four front-facing sensors, incorporating both visual and LiDAR technology, as well as two side-facing sensors. This configuration is expected to provide all-directional obstacle avoidance and support advanced subject-tracking for targets such as cyclists and vehicles.

The transmission system is widely anticipated to be DJI’s Ocusync 4.0, inferred from the appearance of the RC2 controller and Goggles N3 in the leaked materials, although speculation about an upgraded system or future Goggles 4 remains.

The Avata 360 is expected to launch before Christmas 2025, with an estimated starting price of US$1,200. Its introduction is anticipated to create significant competition for other brands in the niche, potentially impacting international competitors like Antigravity.
