Huawei Dominates China's Foldable Smartphone Market with 69% Share in Q3 2025

Huawei maintained its dominant position in China's foldable smartphone market during the third quarter of 2025, capturing 68.9% market share, according to data released by research firm IDC.

The Shenzhen-based company became the first Chinese manufacturer to ship over 15 million foldable devices, solidifying its leadership through advanced technology features and continuous product innovation. Huawei introduced two new form factors during the period: the world's first triple-fold device and the Pura X wide-screen foldable model.

Honor, Huawei's former subsidiary, ranked second with an 11.2% market share. The company's Magic V5 and Magic V Flip series contributed to its strong performance in the segment.

Vivo secured third place with 5% share following the launch of its X Fold 5 model, while OPPO captured 4.9% to take fourth position.

Samsung, the South Korean technology giant, appeared in fifth place with its upgraded Z foldable series, marking its return to China's foldable market after an extended absence.

IDC reported that China's foldable smartphone market shipped 2.63 million units in the third quarter, representing a year-over-year increase of 17.8%. The research firm credited Huawei, Honor, and Vivo for sustaining the market's recovery momentum.

The findings underscore the growing maturity of China's premium smartphone segment, where foldable devices continue gaining traction despite higher price points compared to conventional smartphones. Industry analysts suggest that technological improvements and expanding product portfolios have helped drive consumer adoption in the category.
