Huawei Reportedly Preparing Screen and Chip Upgrades for Upcoming Pura X2 Foldable

New reports indicate widespread hardware enhancements for the next-generation foldable smartphone from Huawei, with leaks pointing to significantly larger displays and advanced processing power.

According to a report published by Huawei Central on December 22, 2025, the upcoming device, tentatively identified as the Huawei Pura X2, is currently in development and is expected to feature major revisions to both its screen architecture and silicon.

Citing information from industry insider "BeijingDigitalMaster," the report details that while the new device will likely retain the 16:10 display aspect ratio, it will mark a departure from the dimensions of the first-generation Pura X. The predecessor featured a 6.3-inch main display and a 3.5-inch cover panel. The Pura X2 is projected to expand distinctively on both the internal and external screens, aiming to offer a wider visual experience that improves the efficiency of "3-in-1" operations, bridging the gap between phone, tablet, and foldable functionalities.

In terms of performance, the leaks suggest the Pura X2 will be powered by the Kirin 9030 5G chipset. This follows the company's trajectory of utilizing proprietary silicon, succeeding the Kirin 9020 series used in the Mate 70 lineup released in 2024. The report further speculates that Huawei may adopt a tiered strategy for the launch, potentially equipping the standard model with the Kirin 9030, while a clear "Collector’s Edition" could feature a more powerful Pro variant of the processor.

As of now, the company has not officially commented on these specifications. However, if realized, these upgrades would signify Huawei's continued aggressive expansion into the high-end foldable market in 2025, intensifying competition in the premium handset sector.
