Huawei's Mate 80 Pro+ Reportedly to Feature Upgraded Camera, eSIM and 6000mAh Battery

A recent report has revealed the purported key specifications for what is believed to be the next flagship smartphone from Huawei Technologies, the Mate 80 Pro+. The leaked details suggest significant upgrades in camera technology, battery capacity, display, and connectivity for the high-end device, which is anticipated in 2025.

According to a tech media report published on October 15, the information originated from a social media post by the well-known leaker "DigitalChatStation" on the Chinese platform Weibo. The original post was reportedly removed shortly after its publication, though not before its contents were captured and circulated.

The report suggests the Mate 80 Pro+ will feature a new triple-camera system, headlined by a 50-megapixel 1/1.28-inch LOFIC main sensor. This could be accompanied by a 48-megapixel periscope lens and an advanced super telephoto macro shooter. The ultrawide sensor is speculated to be a 50-megapixel chip supplied by SmartSens Technology (Shanghai).

In terms of display, the device may come equipped with a 6.88-inch quad-curved LTPO screen featuring Tandem OLED technology. This dual-layer solution is designed to deliver superior brightness and a longer lifespan. The phone is expected to retain the front three-hole design for its selfie camera and 3D face recognition hardware.

Significant enhancements are also rumored for the device’s internal hardware. The Mate 80 Pro+ is expected to be powered by a new Kirin 9030 processor and could see its battery capacity increased to 6000mAh, with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging. Notably, the leak points to a new variant that includes both eSIM support and a physical nano-SIM card slot, offering greater flexibility.

While these specifications remain unconfirmed by Huawei, the reported upgrades signal the company's ambition to solidify its position in the premium smartphone market. If accurate, the combination of a proprietary processor, advanced camera optics, and a larger battery could make the Mate 80 series a formidable competitor upon its launch.
