Magic Atom Raises Billions to Accelerate Embodied AI Breakthroughs

Magic Atom , one of China's leading embodied AI companies, is pushing aggressively into the next phase of industrial deployment, combining a fresh financing round with the launch of a large-scale ecosystem fund to build out what it describes as a full-stack intelligent robotics platform.

The company announced on March 9 the completion of a new RMB 500 million yuan ($69 million) funding round, drawing in a mix of industrial strategics and regional state capital. Simultaneously, Magic Atom launched a RMB 10 billion yuan ecosystem fund anchored in Wuxi, bringing the total capital mobilized across both initiatives to more than RMB 10.5 billion yuan. The dual-track move — combining direct fundraising with a dedicated industry fund — signals a shift from technology validation toward scaled commercialization.

The fundraise arrives as Magic Atom's international footprint expands rapidly. Overseas revenue accounted for more than 30% of total business in 2025, with monthly peaks surpassing 60%, across 27 countries and regions. The company has also secured partnerships with global enterprises including SAP, Toyota, and Wurth Group, with cumulative overseas orders exceeding RMB 100 million yuan.

Industrial Capital and Regional Governments Back Dual-Track Financing

The RMB 500 million yuan round attracted a strategically curated investor base. Participants include Sky Factory Venture Fund, auto components manufacturer Topgroup, Jinyu Maowu , Suda Tiangong , Jiechuang Intelligent , Aishida, and Liang Venture . Regional state-backed funds from Wuxi's Liangxi district, Yibin's Yifazhan, and Wuhan Airport Economic Zone also participated.

The separately launched RMB 10 billion yuan industrial fund — co-initiated with Sky Factory Venture Fund and the Wuxi Liangxi district government — is earmarked to invest across the embodied AI supply chain, targeting algorithms, computing infrastructure, AI hardware, robot core components, novel robot form factors, and end-effector applications.

Topgroup's participation is seen as particularly significant. As a major automotive components supplier, the company is expected to contribute manufacturing infrastructure, parts supply capabilities, and mass-production expertise that complement Magic Atom's existing technology stack. The two parties plan to collaborate on intelligent and automated industrial manufacturing scenarios, with the goal of accelerating product iteration and driving down unit costs.

Jiechuang Intelligent, which has deep experience in cloud computing and robot applications for security and urban inspection, is expected to co-develop what the company calls a "sector brain" — combining computing services and visual algorithms to advance humanoid robot solutions for industry verticals. Aishida, a global cookware manufacturer with parallel investments in robotics and smart manufacturing, is positioned to collaborate on supply chain integration and intelligent factory applications.

Three Technical Pillars Underpin Hardware and AI Capabilities

Magic Atom, founded in 2024, has structured its development around what it terms a "1+2+N" framework: a fully proprietary full-stack hardware and software foundation, two core product lines, and an expanding set of ecosystem touchpoints.

On the hardware side, the company's self-developed joint modules deliver peak torque output of 525 N·m, achieved through electromagnetic optimization, precision winding technology, and high thermal-conductivity encapsulation. The company claims this positions its actuators at the leading edge of the industry on both torque output and power density.

In control systems, Magic Atom has developed whole-body coordination models that enable complex motion sequences. Its robots have demonstrated high-difficulty maneuvers including full-rotation and kick-spin movements, and the company claims to have achieved coordinated control of 100 "robot pandas" simultaneously — a benchmark it describes as a first in the industry for large-scale multi-robot scheduling.

At the model layer, Magic Atom's proprietary embodied AI large model integrates visual-language understanding, task planning, and motion control. The company says its model has been validated in real industrial environments, with material-handling accuracy rates exceeding 90%. To sustain model improvement, the company operates a proprietary data collection facility that closes the loop from data acquisition through model training, simulation evaluation, deployment, and real-world feedback — continuously ingesting operational data from industrial, warehousing, and service scenarios.

Spring Festival Showcase Highlights Expanding Product Portfolio

Magic Atom made its public debut at the 2026 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, presenting multiple robot form factors in live, complex operational settings — an appearance the company leveraged as a demonstration of engineering maturity.

Its humanoid product line comprises two models. The MagicBot Gen1 is the company's full-size general-purpose humanoid, built around proprietary joint modules, dexterous hands, and the "Atom Wanxiang" large model, targeting flexible industrial production, precision assembly, and commercial service applications. The MagicBot Z1 is a high-dynamic bipedal platform aimed at research, education, and consumer markets, capable of running at 4 meters per second with a 320-degree joint range of motion.

On the quadruped side, Magic Atom has built out a multi-tier product line spanning consumer, wheeled, and industrial-grade configurations, targeting home, entertainment, inspection, and emergency response use cases. In 2026, the company plans to expand its consumer-facing product portfolio further, extending into commercial services and public-space applications.

Commercial Deployments Span Industry Verticals and Global Markets

Magic Atom has moved beyond pilot programs into structured commercial agreements. A strategic procurement contract with Dreame Technology covers phased deployment of both humanoid and quadruped robots in factory and retail settings, focusing on material handling, loading and unloading, and tray operations. Early data from retail deployments show foot traffic at robot-equipped stores increased by more than 100%.

The company has also developed standardized solutions for showroom narration, store navigation, and live event interaction, with the Gen1 humanoid already deployed at the Hong Kong World Youth Scientists Conference, a National People's Congress press briefing, a low-altitude economy exhibition center, and a BeiDou industrial park.

Domestic clients include PetroChina , China Telecom, Chalco, the Chinese Academy of Sciences , China Southern Power Grid , JD.com , Geely, ByteDance , Alibaba , and BDStar Navigation, spanning petrochemicals, telecommunications, manufacturing, power, internet, retail, and scientific research.

Academic Partnerships and Open Ecosystem Target Long-Term Competitiveness

Magic Atom is investing in research collaboration through its "Qiming Star Program," which has established partnerships with Tsinghua University, Peking University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Stanford University, and the University of California, Berkeley.

On the developer side, the company is building an open SDK ecosystem with training support for partners and clients, while continuing to scale its hundred-unit humanoid and quadruped swarm control system for applications in performance, leasing, and large-scale deployment scenarios. The company is also developing online capability extension tools to lower the barrier for third-party development and accelerate real-world adoption.

Industry observers broadly characterize embodied AI as transitioning from a technology-verification phase into accelerated commercialization. Companies that can demonstrate integrated technical capability, deployable products, real-world validation, and industrial ecosystem coordination are seen as best positioned to establish durable competitive advantage — a profile Magic Atom's latest capital moves appear designed to reinforce.
