MiniMax Launches MaxHermes, a Cloud-Based Self-Evolving AI Agent

MiniMax has launched MaxHermes, which it describes as the world’s first cloud-based “sandbox” for the Hermes Agent, positioning the product as a long-running AI assistant that improves through continuous use.

MaxHermes is built around a learning loop designed to turn completed complex tasks into reusable “Skills.” The system automatically extracts these Skills, saves them as standalone documents, and then loads them on demand in future sessions. MiniMax says the Skills can continue to refine themselves based on new feedback, allowing the agent’s capabilities to expand over time and become more closely aligned with user preferences.

The company contrasts this approach with OpenClaw, where Skills depend on manual presetting and guidance and are effectively fixed at deployment. In MaxHermes, Skills are generated and iterated by the agent itself, supported by persistent cross-session memory, natural-language scheduling for timed tasks, and a mechanism that allows multiple sub-agents to run in parallel.

MiniMax also highlighted progress in its programming model line, from M2 to the newly released M2.7, citing improvements in tool-calling accuracy, adherence to complex Skills, and compatibility with the Agent Harness framework. The company said the MiniMax M2.7 model is now among the most-used models within the Hermes Agent.

MaxHermes is aimed at reducing friction compared with local deployment of the Hermes Agent, according to MiniMax. The company said users do not need to provide their own servers or API keys or manually configure local environments. It also said the product has been integrated with multiple enterprise messaging platforms including Feishu, DingTalk and WeCom, enabling users to interact with the agent directly within commonly used chat applications with around-the-clock availability.

On pricing, MiniMax said MaxHermes supports using a Token Plan to offset task consumption, and that there are no additional API fees.

MiniMax said future updates will connect MaxHermes to Skillhub, allowing users to call popular Skills. It also said MaxClaw users will be able to migrate existing Skills and persona-style configuration plans to MaxHermes with one click in a later version.

For investors and enterprise buyers, the launch signals a push toward cloud-hosted agents that can accumulate durable user context and operational know-how over time, potentially lowering onboarding costs and increasing switching friction as Skills and workflows become embedded in daily use.
