Unitree Robotics has launched what it describes as the world's first mass-produced rideable transforming mech suit, the GD01, priced from RMB 3.9 million yuan (approximately US$537,000), as the Chinese robotics firm simultaneously advances a landmark listing on Shanghai's STAR Market.

The GD01, unveiled via the company's official Weibo account, is a piloted exoskeleton-style machine capable of shape transformation and carries a total loaded weight of approximately 500 kilograms. Unitree positioned the product as a breakthrough in consumer-grade industrial robotics, though the announcement offered limited detail on commercial deployment timelines or target buyers.

The launch comes as Unitree races to become the first humanoid robotics company to list on China's A-share market. The Shanghai Stock Exchange confirmed on March 20 that it had accepted Unitree's STAR Market IPO application under its preliminary review process, a procedural milestone that signals the exchange's initial willingness to assess the filing.

The company's financial trajectory underscores the urgency behind the offering. Revenue grew from RMB 123 million in 2022 to RMB 159 million in 2023 and RMB 392 million in 2024, before accelerating sharply to RMB 1.167 billion in the first nine months of 2025 alone. Full-year 2025 revenue reached RMB 1.7 billion, reflecting a near five-fold increase over 2024.

The revenue mix has shifted materially in favor of humanoid robots. The segment's share of total revenue rose from 1.88% in 2023 to 51.53% in the first nine months of 2025, placing it on par with the company's established quadruped robot business as a dual revenue pillar.

Profitability has improved alongside top-line growth. Gross margin on core operations climbed from 44.18% in 2022 to 59.45% in the first three quarters of 2025. Net profit reached RMB 94.5 million in 2024, while adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders — stripping out non-recurring items — hit RMB 600 million for full-year 2025.

For investors tracking China's robotics sector, Unitree's IPO bid represents a closely watched test of market appetite for humanoid robotics pure-plays at a time when the segment is transitioning from prototype-stage development toward commercial-scale revenue generation.
