XPeng Unveils Extended-Range X9 MPV with Over 1,600km Driving Range

XPeng Motors has revealed the extended-range version of its X9 seven-seater MPV, with an official launch scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. The new model incorporates the company's Kunpeng Super Extended-Range Technology and boasts a combined driving range exceeding 1,600 kilometers.

The vehicle is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender designated DAM15NTE, delivering maximum output of 110 kilowatts. Under WLTC standards, the model achieves fuel consumption of 0.15 liters per 100 kilometers. The extended-range variant features an 800-volt high-voltage architecture and supports 5C ultra-fast charging capabilities.

According to regulatory filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the X9 extended-range edition will combine a 63.3 kWh battery pack with a 60-liter fuel tank. Under CLTC testing conditions, the pure electric range reaches 452 kilometers, while total combined range extends to 1,602 kilometers. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers.

Design-wise, the extended-range model maintains the futuristic aesthetic of the pure-electric X9. The front features a split headlight design with three-segment LED daytime running lights and a closed grille with vertical ventilation openings on both sides. XPeng has introduced a new exterior color option called "Aurora Green."

The vehicle measures 5,316mm in length, 1,988mm in width, and 1,785mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160mm. It retains the distinctive concealed A, B, C, and D pillars that create a floating roof effect, paired with 20-inch multi-spoke wheels.

Unlike the pure-electric version, the extended-range variant features a fuel filler port on the left rear fender, while maintaining fast and slow charging ports on the right side. Despite the addition of the fuel tank, XPeng has preserved the rear-wheel steering functionality in the extended-range model, maintaining the vehicle's maneuverability.

The rear design incorporates a large frameless window with a fastback profile and full-width LED taillights embedding the XPeng logo, which illuminates for enhanced recognition.
