Zhihang Drone Debuts Entry-Level eVTOL Aimed at Mass Market
Shenzhen Zhihang Drone has launched a new ultra-light electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, positioning the vehicle as an accessible entry point for personal aviation. Dubbed the "Bullet Head," the aircraft is priced at 399,000 yuan (US$55,100) for the standard edition, reflecting a strategic push to target younger consumers and broaden the adoption of low-altitude flight technology.
The company stated that the core design philosophy behind the vehicle is to make flying affordable and accessible, marketing it as the "first helicopter" for a younger demographic. This pricing strategy places the "Bullet Head" significantly below the cost of traditional rotorcraft and many competing eVTOL models currently in development, potentially disrupting the recreational aviation sector.
From a technical perspective, the aircraft utilizes a six-propeller distributed design featuring double power redundancy to ensure operational reliability. The top-mounted propeller layout is engineered to enhance safety, while the airframe combines aviation-grade titanium alloy with carbon fiber. This material mix provides high-strength protection while maintaining the lightweight characteristics essential for electric flight efficiency. For emergency situations, the vehicle is equipped with a whole-aircraft parachute system.
The design features a panoramic front windshield and wing-shaped short wings, which reduce aerodynamic drag and extend flight endurance by more than 20%, according to company specifications. Zhihang emphasizes ease of use, employing a dual-stick control system that allows novices to master operation within approximately 10 minutes.
To address common range anxiety and logistical challenges in the eVTOL sector, the "Bullet Head" supports rapid battery swapping in two minutes. The fuselage is also designed for quick disassembly, facilitating easier transport and storage for individual owners.
This launch comes as the low-altitude economy continues to gain traction in 2026, with manufacturers increasingly moving from prototype phases to commercialization. Zhihang’s focus on the sub-400,000 yuan price bracket suggests a shift toward consumer-grade applications, distinct from the commercial air taxi models pursued by larger industry players.
