China's Instagram-like Xiaohongshu Expects Profit to Triple to $3 Billion in 2025

A recent report has revealed that Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu is projected to triple its annual profit to $3 billion in 2025, marking significant progress in its commercialization efforts ahead of a potential public listing.

According to Bloomberg News' report on Friday, the Shanghai-based company recently updated investors on its latest full-year projections.

The visual-based social platform, known outside China as RedNote, boasts 300 million monthly active users who rely on the app as their primary source of news and entertainment. Xiaohongshu's profit forecast substantially exceeds that of comparable platforms, running approximately 50% higher than Pinterest Inc.'s 2024 earnings and significantly ahead of Snap Inc., which has yet to achieve annual profitability.

The company's financial projections coincide with a surge in its valuation to $31 billion in recent transactions, reflecting strong investor confidence in its growth trajectory. Xiaohongshu gained considerable attention in the US market early in 2025 as users sought alternatives to TikTok amid ongoing regulatory uncertainties surrounding the ByteDance Ltd.-owned platform.

Widely regarded as China's equivalent to Instagram, Xiaohongshu has been expanding its revenue streams beyond traditional advertising sales. The platform is strengthening its e-commerce capabilities through strategic partnerships with major Chinese retailers, including Alibaba and JD.com.

The robust profit projections and rising valuation position Xiaohongshu as a formidable player in the global social media landscape, potentially setting the stage for one of the most significant Chinese tech IPOs in recent years as the company continues to explore public listing opportunities.
