DJI Launches Osmo Mobile 8 with Enhanced AI Tracking and Integrated Design
DJI on October 22 unveiled the Osmo Mobile 8, its latest-generation smartphone stabilizer designed for content creators and videography enthusiasts. The new device features advanced subject-tracking capabilities, an integrated multi-function accessory module, and new shooting modes to provide greater creative flexibility.
At the core of the Osmo Mobile 8 is the updated Intelligent Following 7.0 system, which delivers more precise and reliable tracking of people and pets. The company stated this function works seamlessly with native smartphone cameras as well as third-party social media and video conferencing apps, maintaining focus on a selected subject even in dynamic, multi-person scenes.
A new multi-function tracking module combines subject tracking with a built-in fill light and an audio receiver. The light offers eight levels of adjustable brightness and color temperature, while the device can wirelessly receive high-quality audio from DJI's microphone series, enhancing the production value of vlogs and live streams.
The Osmo Mobile 8's hardware features a three-axis gimbal for smooth, stabilized footage. It introduces new capabilities including 360-degree horizontal rotation for seamless panoramic shots and a low-angle shooting mode. The stabilizer incorporates a built-in extension rod and tripod legs into its compact frame. The device offers up to 10 hours of battery life and can charge a connected smartphone via its USB-C port.
For improved usability, the gimbal adds support for Apple's DockKit and Huawei's HarmonyOS intelligent tracking features. An NFC sensor enables quick Bluetooth pairing, while a magnetic phone clamp system allows for rapid attachment and detachment of the handset. The companion DJI Mimo application provides users with AI-powered editing, shot recommendations, and video templates to streamline post-production.
The Osmo Mobile 8 is available for purchase, with the standard set priced at 898 yuan (approximately US$124). The package includes the stabilizer, a magnetic phone clamp, the multi-function tracking module, a charging cable, and a carrying pouch.
