DJI Thumb-Sized Camera Leaked in High-Resolution Images
Recent leaks have revealed detailed images of DJI's upcoming compact camera, along with specifications suggesting the device will feature a 1/1.3-inch sensor rather than the previously rumored one-inch sensor.
According to tech leaker Roland Quandt, who published high-resolution images of the unreleased device, DJI may also be preparing to launch the Mini 5 Pro drone alongside the new compact camera.
The leaked specifications indicate the thumb-sized camera will weigh 54 grams and feature waterproof capabilities for the main body, though the expansion dock will not be waterproof. The device appears to include ventilation ports and accessory interfaces, which may compromise its ability to achieve full waterproofing due to structural limitations.
The images show what appears to be a multi-layered waterproof structure around the USB-C port, suggesting the expansion component may offer basic water resistance equivalent to IP65 rating, though falling short of full IP68 protection. The camera is expected to include 128GB of built-in storage capacity.
Initial pricing rumors suggest the base model could retail for approximately RMB 2,600 yuan (US$360), though these figures remain unconfirmed. The leaked images notably lack battery capacity information, leaving questions about device longevity unanswered.
Industry observers note that such detailed product leaks typically occur close to official launch dates. While some sources suggested a September 18 release date, this timing appears unlikely given its sensitivity in the Chinese market. A late September announcement alongside the Mini 5 Pro drone appears more probable.
The high quality of the leaked images has raised speculation about whether they represent genuine product photography or promotional materials prepared ahead of an official announcement. DJI has not responded to requests for comment regarding the leaked specifications or potential release timeline.
