Huawei Slashes Prices on Flagship Smartphones by Up to $275

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. announced significant price cuts across its flagship smartphone lineup on September 17, with discounts reaching as much as 2,000 yuan ($275) as part of what the company calls its "HarmonyOS Gratitude Season."

The price reductions cover Huawei's premium device portfolio, including the Mate X6 foldable phone, Pura 80 series, and Mate 70 series. The move comes as the Chinese tech giant seeks to boost market competitiveness amid intense smartphone sector competition.

The Mate X6, Huawei's latest foldable flagship, receives the steepest discount of up to 2,000 yuan. The 12GB + 256GB model now sells for 10,999 yuan, down from its original 12,999 yuan ($1,789) price tag. The device has generated strong market demand since launch, with initial pre-orders exceeding one million units and supply shortages reported.

Huawei's camera-focused Pura 80 series also sees substantial reductions. The Pura 80 Ultra drops 1,500 yuan to start at 8,499 yuan, while the Pura 80 Pro falls 1,000 yuan to 5,499 yuan from its original 6,499 yuan starting price. The series features 6.6-inch OLED displays, eighth-generation ISP processors, and one-inch RYYB sensors running HarmonyOS 5.1.

The Mate 70 lineup receives more modest cuts, with the Mate 70 Pro reduced by 700 yuan to start at 5,799 yuan and the Mate 70 Pro+ dropping 1,000 yuan to 7,499 yuan from 8,499 yuan.

Huawei has additionally introduced financing options including 12-month interest-free installment plans and trade-in programs for select models. The promotional pricing aims to make premium devices more accessible while strengthening Huawei's position in the competitive smartphone market.
