iQOO 15 to Feature RGB Light Strip with Audio-Responsive Technology

Vivo's gaming-focused brand iQOO is preparing to launch the iQOO 15 smartphone on October 20, featuring innovative design elements including a customizable RGB light strip that responds to ambient sound.

According to iQOO product manager Ge Lan, the upcoming device will incorporate a floating camera module design with an integrated RGB light strip that users can toggle on or off. The lighting system includes what the company calls "sound-pickup lighting effects," allowing the illumination to change dynamically based on environmental audio input.

The iQOO 15 will be available in four color variants with distinct material finishes. The Legend edition features a micro-frosted back cover, while the Track edition utilizes fiber materials with a skin-friendly matte design. The Lingyun colorway employs new photosensitive polymer materials and what iQOO claims is the industry's first holographic imaging technology, incorporating a glass matte back cover enhanced with 3,600 layers of particle effects.

The device is expected to feature a 6.85-inch 2K Samsung display with a 144Hz refresh rate, powered by Qualcomm's fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite platform. Internal specifications include iQOO's proprietary Q3 gaming chip and a triple rear camera system anchored by a 50-megapixel main sensor, complemented by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens supporting up to 100x zoom capabilities.

Battery performance represents a significant upgrade with a 7,000mAh capacity unit supporting 100W wired charging and wireless charging functionality. The device will also incorporate iQOO's "Global Direct Drive Power Supply 2.0" technology for enhanced power management.

Additional features include the debut of OriginOS 6, a closed symmetric dual-speaker system, and an X-axis haptic motor measuring 091640 units. The smartphone will carry IP68 water resistance certification for enhanced durability.

The iQOO 15 launch follows the November 2023 release of the iQOO 13, which gained attention for its Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and improvements in display technology and battery life. The upcoming model aims to address previous generation limitations while reinforcing iQOO's positioning as a comprehensive flagship gaming device.

Industry observers note the RGB lighting feature as part of a broader trend among smartphone manufacturers to differentiate gaming-oriented devices through unique visual and interactive elements.
