LandSpace's Zhuque-2 Rocket Delivers Satellites, Marking New Commercial Milestone

LandSpace Technology successfully launched two satellites on June 9, deploying payloads for Yuanxin and China Mobile aboard its upgraded Zhuque-2 rocket from the Jiuquan Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Test Zone, marking the first time the private launch company has served either client.

The mission carried Yuanxin's Qianfan DTC-01, described as the first direct-to-device trial satellite for the Qianfan constellation, alongside China Mobile's second satellite. Both payloads were delivered to their intended orbits. One satellite was developed by Galaxy Space, while the other was led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Innovation Academy for Microsatellites. The two satellites are designed to validate direct-to-handset satellite services and integrated terrestrial-space networking, supporting research into the convergence of satellite communications with 5G and future 6G technologies.

The successful mission came just 26 days after Zhuque-2's return-to-flight on May 14, following a previous launch failure and subsequent corrective review. The rapid turnaround — and back-to-back successful launches — represents the first instance of a private Chinese rocket company achieving high-cadence consecutive successes after a setback, according to industry observers. The company also announced that the upgraded Zhuque-2 variant has completed formal technical certification, clearing the path toward more routine commercial operations.

LandSpace said it is targeting six to ten launches annually for the upgraded vehicle, a target that signals a transition from a development-stage company to a scaled commercial launch services provider. The expansion of its customer base to include Yuanxin and China Mobile — both central to China's satellite internet and next-generation communications infrastructure buildout — further reinforces that shift.

As of June 2026, LandSpace positions itself as the only commercial company globally to have achieved consecutive successful launches of a liquid oxygen-methane rocket while maintaining medium-lift batch delivery capability, a claim that, if sustained, could strengthen its competitive standing as demand for commercial launch services accelerates both domestically and internationally.
