Honor to Launch AI-Native Magic8 Series on October 15

Honor has scheduled a launch event for October 15 to unveil its new flagship smartphone line, the Magic8 series, alongside its MagicOS 10 operating system. The company is positioning the new devices as "self-evolving AI-native smartphones," built around an artificial intelligence strategy that treats AI as a "living entity" capable of continuous learning.

The Magic8 series will be one of the first to be powered by the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Ultimate Edition platform, a result of a deep collaboration between Honor and Qualcomm. The partnership aims to enhance on-device AI efficiency through a new co-developed solution. This includes low-bit quantization technology, which is reported to reduce on-device model storage by 30%, increase model inference speed by 15%, and lower power consumption by 20%. The series also debuts a new vectorized storage retrieval technology, boosting retrieval performance by 400% for millisecond-level matching.

On the software front, the Magic8 series will run on the new MagicOS 10 and introduces a dedicated AI side button. A short press will launch the camera for quick snapshots, while a long press will activate the YOYO intelligent assistant. Honor's YOYO assistant has received a "Level 3 - Excellent" certification from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the highest rating for generalization capabilities. It is expected to eventually support automated execution across over 200 vertical scenarios and 3,000 general-purpose scenes.

In terms of design, the Magic8 Pro will be offered in four colors: Sunrise Gold, Cyan, Glacier White, and Velvet Black. The standard Magic8 model features an exclusive "Sky Blue Glaze" finish, inspired by Song Dynasty Ru-ware porcelain, which incorporates a crackle glaze texture that appears to shift with the light. The Pro's "Sunrise Gold" color is designed to evoke the image of a sunrise over clouds, featuring a warm gold hue with a fine texture.
