Huawei Reportedly Planning 'Air' Model for Mate 80 Series to Rival iPhone Air
A recent report has revealed that Huawei Technologies may be developing an "Air" variant of its upcoming Mate 80 flagship smartphone series, potentially positioning it as a direct competitor to Apple's recently launched iPhone Air.
According to a report published by tech publication Huawei Central on September 24, 2025, the Chinese telecommunications giant is exploring the possibility of launching its first-ever "Air" handset alongside the anticipated Mate 80 lineup.
The speculation emerged from a Weibo tipster known as "SuperDimensional," who initially disclosed specifications for the Mate 80 Pro+ model, including a 6,000mAh battery, 2TB storage capacity, and 24GB RAM. The same source subsequently suggested that Huawei is developing a special "Air" model featuring full-eSIM technology and micro pump fluid cooling capabilities without traditional cooling fans.
The proposed Air variant would reportedly serve as a cost-effective flagship option with streamlined features. The eSIM integration would eliminate physical SIM card slots, creating additional internal space, while the micro pump fluid system would replace conventional cooling fans by distributing heat more efficiently throughout the device.
