Huawei Unveils Mate X7 Foldable Flagship Ahead of November Launch
Huawei officially revealed the design of its Mate X7 foldable smartphone on Monday, with the device scheduled for launch on November 25, 2025.
Richard Yu, Executive Director and Chairman of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, released a promotional video showcasing the handset for the first time. In the footage, Yu wore clothing made from cloud brocade material while holding the Mate X7, suggesting the device may incorporate similar premium fabrics in its design.
The smartphone features a redesigned rear camera module that offers a more refined visual appearance compared to previous models. According to industry leaks, the Mate X7 will sport a 7.95-inch internal display with 2K resolution and ultra-thin flexible glass (UTG) technology. The device is expected to be available in five color options: obsidian black, phantom purple, cosmic red, cloud brocade blue, and cloud brocade white.
The Mate X7 will be powered by Huawei's new Kirin 9030 processor and feature the company's second-generation Hongfeng imaging system, positioning it as one of the most advanced camera-equipped foldable phones currently available.
Leaked specifications indicate the device tested two main camera configurations: a 50-megapixel sensor with 1/1.56-inch size and another 50-megapixel sensor with 1/1.3-inch size. Both options support physical variable aperture technology. The camera system will also include a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with macro capabilities and a Hongfeng multispectral camera, delivering what Huawei describes as a professional-grade photography experience.
The launch comes as Huawei continues to compete in the premium foldable smartphone segment, a market where Chinese manufacturers have been gaining significant ground against international rivals.
