Insta360 Reportedly Readies Modular 'Luna' Camera to Challenge DJI in 2026

New details have emerged regarding a high-end handheld camera from Arashi Vision , commonly known as Insta360, suggesting the company is preparing a significant hardware upgrade to compete directly with rival gimbal products in the creator economy sector.

According to recent reports circulating in Chinese tech media and industry blogs, a white version of the device, tentatively dubbed the "Insta360 Luna," was recently spotted at a retail location in Shenzhen. The leaks provide the first concrete look at the specifications and potential release window for the unannounced product.

The reported specifications indicate a shift toward professional-grade modularity. The device reportedly features a dual-lens system combining a wide-angle module with a 70mm telephoto lens capable of 3x optical zoom, designed to produce natural bokeh effects without software reliance. Technical capabilities are said to include 4K video recording at 240 frames per second, 10-bit color support, and AI-driven stabilization. A standout feature appears to be a "rotary" modular design, allowing users to detach the camera unit or swap lenses, offering greater versatility than fixed-lens competitors.

The release timeline appears strategically aligned with market rivals. Citing FCC filings and supply chain leaks, the report suggests a launch window in the first half of 2026, with sources pinpointing early April as a likely target. This schedule places the product in direct contention with the upcoming Osmo Pocket 4 from SZ DJI Technology, which is reportedly scheduled for a market debut around April 9, 2026.

Pricing estimates place the Insta360 Luna between US$400 and US$600, depending on whether consumers opt for a standard single-lens model or a professional dual-lens configuration. If the 2026 release date holds, this launch will further intensify the hardware rivalry between the two Shenzhen-based tech giants as they battle for dominance in the vlogging and compact cinema camera markets.
